Video, FullHD, 12 min, 2019

“Screenshot” (2019), the first work in the Screen Pieces series, is a 12-minute video loop that begins with a black, empty space. The artist enters the frame and installs a monitor displaying an abstracted archery target. After a silent minute, the sound of a bow being drawn precedes an arrow hitting the screen. The shot fractures the centre, physically cracking the glass and revealing the white light behind. Dead pixels, bleeding liquid crystals, and colored lines blend together with the virtual target to form a post-digital image. The archaic act of shooting breaks the mesmerizing membrane that simultaneously separates and connects the virtual and physical dimensions. At the end, the damaged screen is removed and the procedure starts again in an infinite loop.
